The Views from Our Backyard

We live in a special place. Within 20 minutes of Colorado Springs, Monument, or Woodland Park you can be in the mountains looking at breathtaking views.

Many of these trails can be traversed in the summer with a stock 4-wheel drive vehicle. Anyone with an adventurous spirit looking for an afternoon of fun can explore these trails. However, if you are looking for some challenging rock obstacles along the way that can be arranged too.

During the winter these trails morph into challenging expeditions. The snow makes gentle slopes into steep slippery paths. Drifts can completely change the landscape and approach to the trails.

Whether you are new to off-roading and wanting to explore your own backyard or are an experienced traveler looking for new challenges we have trails and obstacles to share. Come join us for one of our adventures in the Rampart Range area with a guided tour or take a class and learn how to defeat challenges you never knew you could. Our instructor is an experienced guide, spotter, and master of recoveries. Not to mention absolutely passionate about sharing his love of the outdoors.

Hermit Pass

There are hundreds of hidden paths, trails, and fun places to travel in our vast wilderness. Not all of our adventures need to be filled with technical driving and daring rescues. Some of the best places to visit are down bumpy roads. Hermit Pass Colorado is one of those places.

This trail takes you above the tree line with some stunning views across a wide landscape. Tucked down in the valleys along this trail are emerald-colored lakes that are great for fishing.

At the summit, you can see for miles around. The wind will tease your hair and tempt you to fly away. It isn’t the greatest place to stop for lunch, but there are some wonderful pull-offs down by the lakes just below the summit where you will be sheltered from the wind.

If this is a trail that inspires you, or you are looking for a new adventure we would be happy to help you plan your next trip! Don’t forget we offer a wide variety of trail guide opportunities!

Hope to see you on the trails!

Off-Road and Recovery Gift Cards!

Did you know most car insurance companies will not cover accidents that happen on off-road trails? In fact, if you get stuck or stranded on an off-road trail there are little to no towing companies or rescue groups for you to call for help. Often the companies that would be willing to help are extremely expensive. Volunteer groups have little to no experience yielding very inconsistent results. If you want reliable help from trained experts, we have a solution for you!

Beast Off-Road and Recovery specialize in back trails and off-road rescues. If you or you know someone who loves taking their side-by-side or 4-wheeling vehicle on trails, and you want some extra insurance for the day you get stuck consider purchasing one of our gift cards. With a one-time purchase of a gift card, you can have extra insurance without any monthly fees. Only use the gift card when you need it instead of paying a costly subscription for something you rarely use.

Off-Road Classes

You’ve purchased a new off-road vehicle, what now? Would you like to go off-road but don’t know where to start? Lucky for you, we can help. We offer beginner, intermediate, and advanced off-road classes. You will learn how to use your new off-road vehicle, and how and when to use 4 Hi or 4 Lo. Learn tricks, such as reducing the air pressure in your tires, which helps with ride comfort and traction on the trails. Explore the mountain roads, and push your limits, all while showing what your off-road vehicle is capable of tackling. Become more confident and comfortable behind the wheel.

Classes cover a variety of skill sets from brand-new beginners to advanced techniques. Each class is customized and designed around the individual student and their interests. As you progress through our course offerings you will move up to pushing yourself more and trying more difficult trails. You will experience being off-camber (leaning to one side or the other). See how your vehicle will articulate over rocks and dips. Learn to traverse washouts in the road. All while learning how to read the trail in front of you and how to position your vehicle to get around or over obstacles.

Your new off-road vehicle is probably more capable than you can imagine, but everyone will eventually get stuck while being off-road. Let us show you what equipment you should always carry in your vehicle. Have a winch on the front, want to know how to use it correctly and safely? We will show you how to rig a self-recovery and even how to help another vehicle that may be stuck.
