Rescue Stories

A two-door older model Jeep, known as a TJ to Jeep enthusiasts, rolled off a trail called Chinamans Gulch. The owner called a Colorado Volunteer rescue group to help him recover his Jeep. That group had multiple vehicles break down trying to overcome the first obstacle in the fresh 4 inches of snow. They called off the rescue until the weather subsided.

The owner of the vehicle did not want it left of the trail, since it is known that people will remove parts, i/e steal. So a call was made to us to do the recovery.

By the time the rescue team went up, it was snowing heavily with temperatures in the teens. We were able to flip the TJ back on its wheels and drag it up the side of the hill back onto the trail. After draining its fluids and doing some basic trail maintenance we were able to drive the TJ out of the trail and to the parking lot to get trailered home. The rescue took over 6 hours going well into the night, but everyone made it out safe and sound.

Great recovery skills and experience. Had a tough winter condition roll over recovery and it was handled with professionalism and care.

When taking a trip out to Moab, UT there was a side-by-side struggling to make it up the “Hell’s Gate” obstacle. The side-by-side broke both its axles on the passenger side. Jeff helped winch the side-by-side up out of the obstacle and did some trail repairs to get the side-by-side capable of limping to the parking lot over two miles away. Jeff followed the limping side-by-side all the way to the parking lot to make sure they were able to safely exit the trail.

Sometimes even with lockers and tons of experience, even the best drivers can get stuck. Climbing up out of a deep hole covered in snow this JL Jeep needed a little helping hand with a winch to get pulled back onto more level ground.
