Last week I mentioned that the trails on the mountain can change depending on the temps. I’d also like to remind you that some of these trails get less sunlight than others. My point is, when you see a trail with no tracks on it, don’t rush head first into it. It probably means that the guys with the bigger tires know that those trails get and keep deep snow. I’ve personally got stuck in 4 feet of snow in May up there. You can always call that volunteer group to get you out for free…. If they have time and many hours after you request help. Or, call me and I’ll head out right away.

Inconsiderate people
On Thursday May 11th the big storm hit higher elevations to the west of I 25. With up to 2 feet of snow falling in locations. It was a very busy day. But in my travels that day, if I happened upon someone stuck and in need of assistance I offered it for free. This happened 10 times over the 13 hours I was out and about. Most of the individuals offered me something in return for my offer. But one of these individuals, and I’m using that word as a substitute for what I really want to call him, actually had the nerve to threaten to cut my winch rope and then proceeded to threaten to stab me. That’s not a good idea when your in a vehicle that’s 1 .. stuck, 2.. has bald tires, 3.. almost out of fuel, and 4.. your miles away from any other assistance. Needless to say, the vehicle is still where it was on Thursday…. and the occupant didn’t get removed from the mountain until around noon Friday. Do yourself a favor, if someone offers assistance, DO NOT THREATEN THEM….LOL
Choose wisely.
It has come to my attention that a couple of people have used a certain other roadside assistance provider in the area and have had bad experiences with them. This other company has taken calls and not shown up and ignored the customers calls. Leaving them sitting for hours. I’m not going to name this other company. I will guarantee this will never happen here at Beast Off-road & Recovery. I feel bad for the customers that had to wait, and apologized many times for my competition letting them down. When you call your roadside assistance provider and request assistance, they then put out a dispatch and the first to accept gets the call. This is not always the closest or the most responsible company around. But you have another choice, you may call and request that Beast Off-road & Recovery be the one to come to help, directly thru your roadside provider. I will call you directly and inform you of my ETA. And I always answer the phone. I will do everything I can to get you back on your way.

Clean up on the mountain.
This morning I had another opportunity to work with Focus on the Forest , helping with an abandoned homeless camp cleanup. These pop up a lot on the mountain. Luckily this one wasn’t as bad as a lot have been. The fresh snow made it a little slick. But this spot is now clean again. We just about filled up the truck with trash.
If you would like to volunteer to help with a clean up, you can look them up online and check out any scheduled clean up dates.
